Theresa Macknight was born in Saint John New Brunswick, Canada and currently resides in Miramichi New Brunswick where she works as an artist and educator in her community.She exhibits and teaches workshops throughout New Brunswick.

She began her formal art training at Mount Allison University and then Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

Although she considers herself a mixed-media artist, for the past several years MacKnight has been working predominantly in encaustics which is an ancient technique using beeswax as the primary ingredient.
